movie reviews:
The only reason this movie gets two stars out of me is that, thanks to this mediocre effort, I'll be able to remind my girlfriend of what I put up with for her the next time I get to choose on movie night and I suggest a cheesy 80s comedy like "Weird Science" or "The Naked Gun". I don't really need to go into all of the details here because there are more than enough detailed descriptions of this thing to spare me the effort of doing so and to spare you reading the same thing over more times than necessary. Instead, I'll just go ahead and throw my lot in with the "haters", as the fans seem to be labelling us here.
What I will add because I haven't read it yet so far, and what I think should be an important point for perspective, is that every last "10 out of 10" reviewer I clicked on was a newly created account with only this film having been reviewed. I've been around here long enough to know that's always suspicious. I won't blatantly accuse them of being involved in the film's production or of being friends of those who were, but these new members sure are mighty keen on this rather sub-par film. You've been warned.

The stake in "double or quits", as used in the superbowl scene, should not be twice the previous stake, it's the same as the previous stake. Being $X down, another stake of $X will leave you either $2X down on loss (double), or $0 down on victory (quits). Were the new stake to be twice, you'd end up either $3X down, or $X up. Both characters are inveterate gamblers, so shouldn't muddle their terminology so. See more »

A team of explorers travel through a wormhole in space in an attempt to ensure humanity's survival.
Director: Christopher Nolan Writers: Jonathan Nolan, Christopher Nolan Stars: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain |
Storyline
In the near future, Earth has been devastated by drought and famine, causing a scarcity in food and extreme changes in climate. When humanity is facing extinction, a mysterious rip in the space-time continuum is discovered, giving mankind the opportunity to widen its lifespan. A group of explorers must travel beyond our solar system in search of a planet that can sustain life. The crew of the Endurance are required to think bigger and go further than any human in history as they embark on an interstellar voyage into the unknown. Coop, the pilot of the Endurance, must decide between seeing his children again and the future of the human race.
Box Office Budget:
$165,000,000 (estimated) Opening Weekend: $47,510,360 (USA) (7 November 2014) Gross: $187,991,439 (USA) (13 March 2015)
user reviews:
The film begins by establishing at his own rhythm its ambitions: men overexploited land resources, which is why the only goal they have left is to survive. This life is not enough for Cooper, brilliantly played by McConaughey who gave body and soul to this character. But all of this wouldn't hold without the total control of Christopher Nolan, based on the languishing soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, the luminous and impenetrable photography of Hoyte Van Hoytema, and the sincerity of Nolan's directing. He manages to film the characters and to find the right cut at the right time, always in harmony with Hans Zimmer's soundtrack, to give the film an aspiring and inspiring dimension that went missing for many many years. Thus we are transported into the same cockpit that Cooper, we feel the same remorse that he can already feel, we feel the same gravity, and we feel the same fear of the unknown melted with the force of his will. All of this is brilliantly illustrated in a very simple directing choice, which from my point of view is the decisive impetus of the film: to directly jump from when Cooper leaves in his truck, leaving his family behind him, to Endurance taking off. This simple editing decision allows Nolan to give an original movement to his film, and the musical crescendo makes us physically feel the sentimental break between two parts of the film. You don't necessarily have to understand it immediately : The film will raise questions in you, such as : what is it to be a human being, is there some physical limitations to our humanity, how far could we be willing to go to determine knowledge, is there other dimensions that we can not access to, and above all: what is the nature of this intact and immutable bond that unites us to others wherever we are in the universe ? Is this bond only intelligible, or is it also tangible ? All these questions resonate in harmony in Nolan's Interstellar. Interstellar is itself a crescendo, increasing sensitivity and creativity. I use the term deliberately because it goes crescendo with the soundtrack by Hans Zimmer, which is one of the most beautiful music ever scored for a sci-fi movie. We are witnessing a perfect musical arrangement, a total symbiosis, a bit like the music of Gravity which had understood very well how to match the image and the rhythm of a sequence to its own musicality. Zimmer's crescendos are giving a new powerful breath to every new scene, whether it is in visually powerful & intense moments or in more intimate moments; it intrudes into our momentary feelings and sensations, and manages to extend them, sometimes almost to choking, before resting on the balance of the film frame along with our mind spell-bounded. for more info,

For a good all out can't stop laugh you must go watch this. I laughed so much I had stomach pains and tears in my eyes. It was a little bit longer than I was prepared for but well worth the time. Rebel Wilson was AMAZING!!! Her acting skills are on point and flawless. She is very funny and she's not afraid to try anything out of the norm. She will make you laugh and fall in love with her all at the same time. The plot and the ending was predictable because it follows the same patterns as the first movie but I still found it very tasteful and comforting. Often times sequels fall short but this one made me love it even more. I normally do not find movies with an all female cast funny but this time I was surprised! If you're wondering whether or not you should take your boyfriend, husband, brother or any other masculine man to go watch this because of hesitation that he might find it boring and nag about having to be dragged to watch this then you don't have to worry. There is a lot of male approved humor in this chick flick. I'm definitely going to buy the DVD when it comes out.

plot summmary;Bound by a shared destiny, a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor jaded by disillusionment embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory as "Tomorrowland." - Written by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Bound by a shared destiny, a teen bursting with scientific curiosity and a former boy-genius inventor embark on a mission to unearth the secrets of a place somewhere in time and space that exists in their collective memory. - Written by Anonymous user reviews:When the director of "The Incredibles" signed for this film, I was looking forward to the same amount of humor and exhilaration present in that animated masterpiece, something similar to what the little boy expresses when he realizes he can run on water. Nothing remotely close occurs in "Tomorrowland", a film that suffers from having too big a budget and hardly any original or exciting thoughts. It is also hindered by the fact that almost all of the actors appear clueless and not quite matching their characters. There's something about George Clooney being suave when needed and bit of an oddball in some other cases, but he's no Harrison Ford or Tom Cruise, and though the lead actress is pleasant to look at, she makes you wonder if casting directors shouldn't go through a more comprehensive training. Just recently "Mad Max" showed how an apocalyptic universe can be created with the use of minimum CGI, giving the film and story more weight because it felt real. "Tomorrowland" has some gorgeous computer graphics and way too many visual effects that must have caught a good deal of money but don't add much to the dramatic, action, or comedy scenes. They distract. The premise was interesting, and I liked the idea that girls are giving important roles, but as I said before the introduction is sluggish, and the movie never recovers from it. Traveling through multi-dimensions has been explored before with even more complex concepts, and the results have been spectacular. We can think of "Back to the Future", "The Matrix" among others, and some of the "technology" that pops here has been displayed to a much better use and without overdoing the clunkiness in shows that some people might consider cheesier but a lot more fun. Do you remember "Lost in Space?" I had flashes of "Aliens", "The Transformers", "The Rocketeer" among others, and though there was a lovely recreation of the fifties. There is not much to commend in the film. It's like a dark ages of cinema took over whatever inspiration went in, leaving not much but a pretty, loud, expensive, but expensive package. I remember a few years ago when "The Return of the King" was criticized for its many endings, well, I did experience quite a bit of anxiety and pain by watching the endless final scenes in this film as the point was made over, and over, and over, and over, and sadly enough another modern masterpiece came to mind as flashes of "Ex Machina" went by. Yes, money can buy a lot but it's hardly the currency Hollywood needs for true imagination or inspiration. This is a film that was 130 minutes too long.

movie plot:3 Idiots (Hindi: ३ इडियट्स) is a 2009 Indian coming of age comedy-drama film co-written, edited and directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Abhijat Joshi wrote the screenplay. It was loosely adapted from the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat. The film stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Omi Vaidya, Parikshit Sahni and Boman Irani.
Upon release, the film broke all opening box office records in India. It was the highest-grossing film in its opening weekend in India and had the highest opening day collections for a Bollywood film. It also held the record for highest net collections in the first week for a Bollywood film. It also became one of the few Indian films to become a major success in East Asian markets such as China,[4] eventually bringing its overseas total to more than US$65 million — the highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time in overseas markets, before being overtaken by Dhoom 3 (2013).[5][6][7] It was expected to be the first Indian film to be officially released on YouTube, within 12 weeks of releasing in theatres on 25 March 2010. It was officially released on YouTube in May 2012, but its access has since been restricted.[8] The film also went on to win many awards, winning six Filmfare Awards including best film and best director, ten Star Screen Awards and sixteen IIFA awards. "3 Idiots" is ranked #124 in IMDB's top 250 world movies and also has an IMDB rating of 8.5.
The film is distinctive for featuring real inventions by little-known people in India's backyards. The brains behind the innovations were Remya Jose, a student from Kerala, who created the exercise-bicycle/washing-machine; Mohammad Idris, a barber from Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, who invented a bicycle-powered horse clipper; and Jahangir Painter, a painter from Maharashtra, who made the scooter-powered flour mill.[9] This film was remade in Tamil as Nanban (2012) which also received critical praise and commercial success.[10][11] It has also been announced that there will be a Chinese remake of the film produced by Stephen Chow and that there are plans for a Hollywood remake produced in the United States.
